Continuing Education Workshop – 3 Schwinn Credits

Duration : half day / 4 hours
Content : In this four-hour workshop, you will dive deep into the world of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and uncover what truly lies behind one of the most talked-about training methods in fitness.
You will explore the science and myths surrounding high-intensity training – understanding what HIIT really is, why it is effective, and for whom it is most appropriate. The workshop will guide you through current research and practical insights, helping you distinguish between trends and evidence-based practice.
Key concepts such as training intensity, work-to-recovery ratios, and physiological responses will be explained in a clear and applicable way. You will gain a deeper understanding of EPOC (Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption), how it impacts performance and recovery, and how to use it intentionally in your class design.
The workshop will also introduce you to well-known protocols such as Tabata, analyzing their structure, benefits, and limitations. Beyond theory, you will learn how to translate these concepts into effective Schwinn Cycling sessions by building your own HIIT profile class – designed to be safe, progressive, and results-driven.
To bring everything to life, you will experience HIIT firsthand through two practical ride sessions, allowing you to feel the training effects, understand rider perspective, and refine your coaching approach.
By the end of the workshop, you will be confident in designing and delivering HIIT-based classes that are scientifically grounded, highly engaging, and aligned with Schwinn Cycling coaching principles.
